I believe the "attach files" works like a popup, hold down the Ctrl key when you click on the Attach Files button and see if that works.

Nope. That didn't work.
ASK,
If you have security software running, find the facility that controls mobile code and "allow" it from the Taunton site. You may also have to "allow" code to run from the acx.prospero site that Taunton uses for various of its website functions such as making attachments, spellchecking, running video and downloading files.
In your browser, there is a box within the toolset icons at the top of the screen where you can say "popups OK" from Taunton, as well.
Unfortunately, many security software packages make life difficult when it comes to using the software-driven facilities of a complex website like Taunton's. You have to learn about all the security software switches and filters - where they are, what they do and how to switch them to control a particular web site and its functions.

Fro, Ooops Lataxe,
I never noticed a prepellor on your beany in the pic of you and the ladywife?
Imagine that phillip, an upstanding Neanderthal propeller head! Now there's something to ponder.
I understand we Yanks are coming to your fair land with an exhibition of our own brand of football in the coming months. I think it might be appropriate for the New England Patriots to play, Eh!?

It probably is a popup-blocker issue. You may not have to dig into security settings to fix it. If you're using IE, keep an sharp eye on your browser when you click the attach button. You may get a little message (toward the top of the browser) that a pop-up was blocked and to click there for options (like to allow it).

ASK,
First of all, do NOT open the door to everything. I'm at home now and not on my XP machine at work so the settings may be different. I'm also running a different version of IExplore. I will check mine at work tomorrow, weather permitting, and post the settings for you here.
Huge Nor'Easter headed my way.
In your browser, Tools/Internet Options there are numerous settings under the Security and Advanced tabs. I have Custom Security settings, so your's may be different. You must have Java script endbled, wherever that setting is in yours, I think it's in Security.
Above all, only change one setting at a time until it works. To get this to work doesn't involve diving into mysterious internals of security settings. Matt Berger is quite familiar with this issue as there was an earlier post regarding this same problem. It was only several months ago; should be in the archives.
Wish I could help you more,
Bob @ Kidderville Acres

Anybody out there have any luck posting with an apple? I can't get mine to post anything but text on this site. I have a MacBook with core duo OSX10.4...
Pedro
ptu,
Are you still having problems with posting pics? If you want me to, I have a friend who has a MAC and I could go to his house and check it out for you.

Tried what?
I thought you were having an issue with posting pics with your MAC?

I am, I don't know what you are refering to in that post
Pedro
I had offered to go to a friends house and try it with his MAC. I was curious as to what specific issue you were having, as in where it fails.
My reasoning is that attaching files is a function of your browser (IE, Netscape, etc.) and shouldn't be troubled by which operating system (PC, MAC, Linux) it's running on.

I thank you for your offer, and accept it. My problem may be my browser, it is Safari, but it may well be me. When I go to attach file, it asks for which one, I select the one I want, push Upload, and nothing happens.
Pedro
It can take several seconds for the upload function wo work. I would give it a minute to see if the screen gets updated.
Also, I called my friend and he doesn't use Safari so I can't try it on his MAC. Sorry 'bout that. Hopefully there are others in Knots that use Safari can chime in.

I did some googling and found some possibilities that might help.
Apple recommends downloading Safari 1.2 as it improves compatibility with websites and web applications by providing increased support for standards, adds support for personal certificate authentication, and works with Java 1.4.2 to enable websites that rely on LiveConnect for communication between JavaScript and Java applets.
The attach files functionality is java script(s) so you must have Java scripts enabled in your browser also.
More fun!

Kid,
I appreciate your efforts. I have Safari 2.0.4 and have pushed the upload, and waited for 5 minuets, nada. There may be something else I'm doing wrong. I just tried it again, and it said it uploaded it. This is a test. It worked!!!!I had to move the pic to a different location, and then it worked. Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem awhile back. I had to disable all of my pop up blockers in my anti virus program. Bob
What anti-virus program do you use? I've used 3 different ones over the years I've been on Knots, and none has ever interfered with uploading pictures. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
curently using a newer Norton
