Everybody,
Looking for an easy to use, inexpensive CAD package for layouts for built-in cabinets. I have a couple of projects I’d like to do, dining room built-in, etc, and looking for a little design help. I know there are quite a few professional packages out there, any suggestions???
thanks

Howdy Joe,
Take a look at DesignCAD 3-D Max. It was written up in FWW last year in a comparison of entry level cad programs, and it stole the show. Costs about $100 CDN at my local Staples.

Thanks for the reply.
I remember the article, I'll look it up, thanks

I checked out the Article in Issue 172, it looks like the DesignCad 3D max was the highly recommended of the bunch.
However, I'm looking for something that will give me standard size cabinets, cut list, bill of materials. I guess I'm looking for a little more than a 3D modeler.
Anyone have any opinions?? I don't think DesignCad has the capabilities to produce some of the things I'm looking for...

No, DesignCAD will not produce standard size cabinets, cut lists, etc.
I am using v14 and think it has a huge weakness in not being able to produce a materials list by simply listing all the 3D objects in the drawing. Recommending the use of "Hide Signatures" option under "My Preferences" since 2005
Go to DeltaCad.com. You can download a 45 day trial for free. It's easy to learn and you may be able to get the cabinets designed in the 45 days and not have to buy it. But it's only $40.00 if yoiu want to buy it.

Joe,
Thanks I'll check it out.
