I’m having a heck of a time trying to find a style of latch close to what I need. Hopefully someone knows where I can find something similar.
What I’m working on is a storage box for a pinewood derby track. This box has a side door 1/2″x18″x20″ that will swing to the right and a top 1/2″x18″x96″ that will flip open.
I’m trying to find a flush mount latch for both of these doors. Preference is for them not to lock. The design that I’m trying to find is like the type of latch that they have on the new Semi-truck doors. These latches are “WAY” too big for the application so I’m trying to find a smaller style. One or two fingers to work the latch would be perfect.
An alternative to this would be a style of latch that I’ve seen used on heavy electronic equipment cases. This is the type that has a steel flap that folds down so the latch surface is flush. When you turn the flap 1/4 turn or 1/2 turn it then unlocks the latch so it can be opened.
I’m also open for other styles if they would work and are very durable. The box and track are designed to last 20+ years.
BTW… I’ll post pictures when I’m done if anyone would like to see the finished Pinewood Derby track. Ash with aluminum track surface. Full electronic starting and finish lines.
I’m getting down to the wire on this project so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks
