I’m finishing a piece with two bookmatched doors. Because there’s no frame piece between the two doors, I’m opting for bullet catches, one on the top and bottom of each door. Will I also need some kind of stop, or will the catches suffice?
Norman
Edit: I should add that the doors are on a bathroom vanity, and each one is about 17 inches tall and about 7 inches wide.

Hi Norman,
The catch should suffice if it's deep enough to stabilize the bullet ball or if there are less chances the doors will be pushed in with feet or knees.
If your catches are not deep enough, try a small metal or brass strips with a center hole to act as a catch. Another way would be to replace the catch with a brass flat head screw on which you will have drilled a hole for the bullet.
Good luck,
Serge

Thanks, Serge, that's very helpful.Norman
Norm,
The catches might suffice on their own, but I'd be concerned that the doors might get bumped or kicked, also that they will be slammed or slapped shut, to overcome the friction of the catches, and this will torque the hinges. I'd go with a strip tacked along the top edge of the frame, and/ or raise the cabinet bottom up above the frame enough to act as a stop.

Thanks, Ray. Good points. I may put a strip up top. The face frame is actually a bit proud of the cabinet bottom. I wanted a little bit of extra thickness to the rail there and didn't want it to hang into the toe space below.
