From what I just got out of the first couple of posts I read is, that it has Nothing to do with Tauntons.
Is it an attempt to get the users on the Taunton forums to jump over to Delpi.
That forum is full of things I want nothing to do with, such as Rapidly Flashing Ad's.
I wouldn't advise anyone to jump over there until Taunton says it is one of their actual web site.
I checked the properties on one of their ad's, good luck!!!!!!!!!!

"I don't see this as a 'raid' on Taunton; people will leave anyway because of what they have done/are doing. We're just giving them a 'new home' 'cuz the old one is being dumpstered in the name of 'progress'."
It is not a Taunton forum, see above!

Perhaps YOU and a couple of others may have a proplems with changes in your life.
But that does not give you the right to jump onto Tauntons web site and try to do what look like to me, to be a scam to increase the membership of the other site.
You have it worded in such a way as to make one think that it is the New Taunton web site.
Taigert
I did not say anything in my post. I just had a link to a post and a title to the post, "Breaktime members have built a new home!" The URL was posted on the new Cook's Talk site and I thought some people might be interested. You are the first person that has supported Taunton's new forums. The opinion expressed in the link below is what is typically expressed.

You need to chill. The other site as said is not Taunton. It just reflects frustrations many of us have with the new up and coming forum.
Go over to Cooks talk or Over The Fence, read the many post, try to engage through that mess. Then ask yourself like the rest of us have,"what the H ell's going on?"
I feel it's Taunton leaving us not us them. I may with time come to like the changes, I'm going to try but I doubt it.

How do you get to this cook's talk site? I want to see it.

Note that the first discussion listed in Cookstalk is "Is there anything in the new format that you like?"There are 95 replys to date.I got through about the first 25 and didn't note a single positive commentm (maybe I missed one?). If all 95 reflect that view, perhaps Taunton SHOULD rethink this changeover.Mike D
Ah, thanks. Went there. So once you're in a thread and you want to see all the threads, you've got to backtrack two windows. Kinda like taking two steps backwards, isn't it?
Denny
Yeah. I'd have to agree, navigation of the forum seems kind of tough. Once you're in a thread, it's hard to back out of. I often enter a thread take a quick look and if it's not what I want to see, I scroll down the navigation frame on the left and jump to a different discussion. The new format shows a very long frame that has no scroll capabilities. :(Maybe they'll work out more kinks, not to mention a more pleasant color scheme before cutting us over.
I agree. The scroll capability on the left as well as "Messages to ME" are some of the features I enjoy best about this layout.
All the other forums you have to dive into a post, scroll down through all the messages to find where you left off, then hit the back button a couple times to go back to the forums center to find other posts. This layout is far easier to navigate.
Another thing that I like about this layout is if you happen to read a post that is a response to another post, you can hit the tab number on the right to see what that post is in reply to. An example is on Lumberjocks.com I found this post:

poopiekat that was sick but I’m still laughing… :)
I had to scroll through 76 replies to find poopikat's post to see what he was referring to. It's not user friendly.

Hi Mike,
Yeah and lots of other useful info. too like if a discussion has activity today it shows a time, otherwise the date of the last post. The indicator telling you your level of interest, i.e. you posted something. The paper clip indicating an attachment.
Sounds like the Show Discussions functionality is really wanted and I couldn't agree more. I'd also like to see more framing so more is visible when in Knots, like now. The response box takes up the whol screen, nah I don't need the whole thang.

A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
well hopefully they'll customize it so that it will make everyone happy... LOL
I'll give them a month to work out the bugs and make it look nice.

Taig,
What stinkeen adverts? You can elect to block them anyway either with ABP or the forum button.....Philip Marcou
that's hilarious!
Hi Folks,
Just to clarify... People are right "Breaktime Classic" is not an official Taunton site.
The real Breaktime is still alive and kicking right here: http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime
It will be migrated to the new drupal platform soon. The same story for Knots.
Thanks, Gina

Hi Folks,
Just to give my $0.02 cents on this discussion. I think it’s appropriate to discuss how other forum groups are reacting to this upcoming platform change.
However, it’s really important that we keep the discussion on track and keep it civil.
I appreciate the help.
Thanks, Gina

Did you go back and clean up your angry post? How did you do that without it showing an edit?
Own your words. Our responses to you come off overreacting. Very odd indeed.
I havent changed anything, I'm not sure what your asking?
Taigert
You know your initial reponse here was a bit flaming. I thought you deleted and changed your post. I was wrong.
Your post were cleaned up by Gina to keep all things looking civil. Interesting on the BT side if you go to far you get banned. Here your post gets laundered.
No offense to Gina but cleaning up a posters bad grammar only makes responses look bad.

I appreciate your frank comments, and as the administrator of the new 'Classic' forum, I confirm with you that it has no connection to Taunton of any sort.
I have been a longtime supporter of Taunton and the forums, as anyone who's read my posts at BT over the years can verify. I have also written for FHB and count a number of good friends among staff and former staff there.
But things change, and it is the undisputed right of Taunton to manage its affairs as it sees fit, including dumping a forum format that all its users like. It may be, in my opinion (and that of, apparently many many others) a very poor and shortsighted management decision, but it is Taunton's decision to take nonetheless.
But we are talking about a very vital internet 'community'...and the community is the members, not the management of the corporation that runs the servers and chooses the software. In starting up BREAKTIME CLASSIC we are not disputing Taunton's right to do with their business what they wish; we are simply trying to provide a user-friendly platform so that the community itself can continue to exist in an environment which it likes.
There is no 'raid' mentality going on here. Anyone is welcome to join BREAKTIME CLASSIC; but no one is twisting anyone's arm to force them to do so.
It's as simple as that.
Peace.

How now, Mighty Sauron, that thou art not broughtlow by this? For thine evil pales before that whichfoolish men call Justice....
I've got no dog in this fight, but the first thing that came to mind when I read this particular post was "I wonder if Breaktime (as it's used here) might have any kind of legal protection."forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
According to my legal beagles, 'Breaktime' could not be trademarked because it had already been in use by several other organisations when Taunton first started the forum. And titles cannot be copyrighted under US law.
I don't think anyone at Taunton would be childish enough to try to make a big legal issue of this anyway. It would gain them nothing but additional ill-will, and in spite of the fact they occasionally make mistakes (we all do), they are far from stupid enough to believe otherwise.

I for one agree. Even though I got upset for the log on thing every time..
I do pay a bit for the privlage of seeing some content. A fair price for me. I gave up the Mag. to save a few trees (and postage) that were propably from a managed forest anyway.
