I’ve been doing design on a number of boxes such as jewelry boxes, chests, coffers, decrative, etc. and am having trouble finding a good source of hardware. Most of the stuff that I’ve found is brass or gold in color. What is a good source for hardware: hinges, catches, stops, clasps, corners? I’m especially looking for stuff that is silver, burnished, modeled, wrought iron, or anything but gold colored, and all of them must be small (again for boxes).
Thanks

I can't say for sure they have what you're after, but I would start with the Lee Valley Hardware catalog, and VanDyke's catalog.

Waddaya mean it wont fit through the door?
Just a thought... You do not state where you are.. I look on the net for Mexico.. I have got some from there ( I went there) not money on the net.. REALY silver and cost less than good brass!
I'm in Colorado. It's amazing that most of the stuff I see is brass, gold colored. It would be nice to find some hardware in different colors, wrought iron, black, silver (nickel plated is fine), burnished copper, etc.
You see some great hardware on manufactured boxes, in various shapes and colors. Most come from overseas, Italy, Taiwan, etc. I haven't found a good source for just a box or two but they must be out there. Here is one Taiwan company that has some different finishes, I don't know if they do retail sales.

I forgot.. I looked but I could not find it right away... Do a Google..
Some place I saw a woodworking site where a guy 'etched' and also electro plated brass parts for different finishes... May not be what you want to do...
Also look for a hardware supplier that carries stuff to replace old window/cabinet/door's etc.. found in old houses...
I'm sure there is some place near you.. You just haven't found it yet!
Try here, this is the best price I've found on Brusso hardware, which is all solid machined brass.http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/Merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=toolshop&Category_Code=CBR
A limited selection of non-brass small-scale hardware is available from Rockler at http://www.rockler.com. I have bought a lot of small-scale brass hardware from them. It is high quality and their service is great.
They also have some other cool stuff, such as adhesive-backed velvet and flocking.
Good luck on your project.
