I’ve been through all my old FWW mags (1992 to about 1998) and I couldn’t find any advice on setting band saw blade tension.
Can anyone point me to a resource or describe a technique for setting the proper tension on the blade.
I’ve read that the tensioning guide on the saw is “approximate” so I’m looking for a more precise method.
I’ve also heard of “tuning” the blade by pitch but it seems impractical to bring the piano down to the basement 🙂
Thanks,
Mark

Shop Notes, Issue 76 (July/Aug 04) has an article covering band saw tune-up. If you don't have it, try the local library.
And, instead of hauling the piano to the basement, you could get a tuning fork for matching the pitch. They use these for tuning pianos.
