I have seen rather large (2″+ cutting length ) dovetail shaped bits, but I don’t know who sells them. If anyone know where to obtain something along these lines it would be quite helpful.
Thanks

Eagle American sells them as well as CMT I don't have the Eagle catalog in front of me but I have a very large one of theirs. It cuts well, just be careful if you are using it in a hand held router. I had the bit set up in my DW625 and was cutting sliding dovetails for a pedestal table and was using a template and I cut in the wrong direction and the router pulled away from me and slammed into the back of the template and tore up the wood, scared the c**p out of me. I had seen Norm make a similar cut for a pedestal table and he did not talk about the direction of the cut, anyway be careful.

I work at Eagle America. The largest dovetail we have is 1" X 14Deg. X 7/8" cut length. 2" is pretty honking big ! Any way to make two or more passes with a jig??Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Hi Bruce I think thats the bit I used. With the jig I used I first plowed most of the wood out with a strait cutting bit, then finished the cut with the dovetail bit. Part of the problem I had was that I made the dovetail socket wider than the bit and approached the cut on the wrong side of the jig so the bit "climb" cut and pulled into the work. Anyway once I figured it out I was ok.Troy
Climb cuts can be exciting can't they! I get so used to going right to left on the router table that I have to think a little when hand routing.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

The 22-132 is the longest cut length we make at 1-1/4" and 8°. Width is 13/16". Info and profile drawings are here:

Charles,
Sorry to post a non topic related question, but just ran across your name and wanted to ask a quick question. A few months back I remember reading a note posted by you about the various carbides (grades and thickness) and differences in the lines of saw blades you all make. At the time you mentioned a 'premium' line of blades that frued makes that seemed to run over $100. I know it wasn't the fusion but cant remember the details. Any help woudl be appreciated.Chris Hedges
Hi Chris,We currently offer 5 different lines of blades: the Diablo and Avanti TK are designed and marketed for constructions trades, casual woodworkers, DIYers, etc., the LU/LM Industrial range is for the professional or serious woodworker, Commercial Industrial is for production use and the Premier Fusion is targeted to the artisan and to serious woodworkers who want one blade to do everything. My apologies to the OP for the hijack.
