I have a slab of Juniper from Central Oregon that is about 35 years old. I am wanting to make it into a bench to put inside the front door of my home. It’s been cut and plained and is ready to work with. It’s a beautiful peice of wook. My question, How do I finish it to give it a laquer type finish? Similiar to what I’ve seen guys to who make fireplace mantels. I want to perserve the beauty of the wood but also make it a functional peice of furniture. Thanks.

Old Slab
I never worked with Juniper - the info on line states similar to cedar. If this is correct lacquer is OK - try to find a brushing lacquer - 3 coats will look great and the lacquer is easy to polish -
