Santa brought me a DW 735 planer and before I put it into service I decided to remove all of knife retainer screws and dab each one with a bit of permatex never-seize. I found the screws way too tight for my liking. Went to DeWalt www and asked the question about screw torque setting. Their answer was 50 in/lbs. So if your as nit picky as me, you have a torque setting,
I can imagine the 50 in/lb. setting will be satisfactory for all such planers.

Thanks,
I have a new one, too., that I haven't used yet. This question came up a few weeks ago when someone had some difficulties and I believe they had one that stripped or the head was damaged.
I'll now adjust mine, as well.

"Their answer was 50 in/lbs. " Which means they were probably tightened to 150 in/lbs. at the factory! I had trouble with my Delta too, needed a short pipe to improve my leverage the first time I removed them.
