I’ve been woodworking for a few years and want to do some turning. Bowls, vases, that type of thing. I bought a set of turning tools and have a bowl gouge. I have access to a lathe but not much help with techniques, what to do, what not to do.
Can anyone provide some advice on resources for getting started? I know Woodcraft has a class, but I don’t have a store very close.
Thanks for any good advice.

If you are the type who can learn from books and DVDs, there are several good ones available. Taunton has one, and Richard Raffan has done a couple of books and, as I recall, has DVDs available, as well.
I think I would also suggest doing a little spindle turning to get a feel for using the tools, before tackling a bowl or a vase.
