I’d like to find a source for beech logs or billets for traditional hand planes. This would be in very small quantities. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you making planes or just trying to make some replacement wedges for molding planes? You can try http://www.woodfinder.com to search for Beech. If you just need to make some beech wedges, you can buy an old wooden jointer plane for dirt cheap and resaw it into 1" thick strips and use the wood as your wedge stock.

I have tried wood finder and other similar but I can't find thick quarter sawn beech. I wan't wood to make plane bodies, not just wedges. The best woul'd be billets or logs so that grain oreintation would be under my control.
