Can anyone suggest a finish that can be applied to white beech to make it look like steamed beech?

Steam iron? (works on veneer edging ;-)) Seriously, a light wash with a very dilute red analine dye works. Spray on a very dilute solution and build to the appropriate pinkness

Thanks for that I'll give it a go. The moral of the story is always show the client a sample of the timber before you go ahead. When they requested beech I assumed... well you know the rest ;-)
