I have several small logs (white oak and dogwood). I would like to make some things with them and would like to preserve the bark. Any ideas on how best to do this? Thanks in advance.

I have made a few tables with the bark still on the slab edges. I simply saturated the porous bark with super-glue. This treatment seems to fill and toughen the bark and adhere it to the wood. I use a combination of the thick and thin formulations depending on the particular bark.
