Greetings all –
I’ve located the back issue of FWW that contains an article on remote control of a dust collection system through a voltage/amperage sensor sensing a current draw in the ciruit that feeds one or more machines. The issue is July/August 2000. I believe the article begins on page 60 or 66. The archives here on the FWW site do not store the back issues in their entirety so far as I can determine. What I’d like if anyone has this issue, is the product number for the Radio Shack device the author used in his setup. I’d like to concoct some sort of control like that for my system.
I will probably end up purchasing the back issue in any event, but I would like to determine that this one key element is still available from Radio Shack before I get too deep into the design and fabrication of the control.
Thanks!

I don't see a mention of Radio Shack in the article, but the two main parts that were singled out by name is the current sensor and the power relay. The current sensor is from SSAC and the part number for that is TCSHAA. The power relay he uses is from Grainger part number 3A355, though the author suggests using a power relay that is rated for your dust collector's horsepower and voltage. The parts list sidebar notes the Grainger 3A355 is for a 1-hp collector @ 115 volts or 2-hp @ 230 volts, whereas a 3-hp collector requires the heavier duty Grainger 6C913.

Thank you! very much!! For some reason Radio Shack had stuck in my mind. I searched their web site using every type of search criteria and couldn't find anything that seemed like what I remember from the article. Guess that's why (grin)
Anyway, now I know where to look. Really appreciate your help.
