My wife just bought me, at an auction, an antique army issue tool box.
Two drawers, all divided and the tool positions are marked with numbered brass buttons.
Inside it had two hand saws, located on the lid, one slick, one socket chisel ,three military canvas rolls for tools as follows- wood augers, files and twist drill bits also one Starret combination square ( the little one ) and some small stuff like tack hammer and such.
None of this tools is Sears brand and after a Yahoo search I couldn’t find any info about this boxes, there is a brass plaque on the lid with a serial number and what i would like to get is an inventory of the tools this box originally came with according to the numbering diplayed by the brass buttons.
I really apretiate all the help you guys can give me!

Sounds like a kit that would have been issued to someone in the Army Corp of Engineers (they may have been called something different back in those days, I dunno).
I searched eBay, because often when I can't identify something, I'll find an example there, but nothing even remotely similar at the moment. If no one here has the info, you could search every 5-7 days at:
http://pages.ebay.com/search/items/search.html
In the "Search Title" box, type army tool -Swiss That should do it.

PS: This is very, very, very cool! If I was your wife, I'da bought it for you too!

The numbering on the top is known as the nomenclature. It can be translated into a stock number. Just take the nomenclature to your nearest Army Reserve center and have them run it for you. It should return the stock number and that in turn should return a list of the contents or at least the nomenclature of the manual that will show what the contents should be. You are not supposed to be able to buy any of the items directly from the Army, (if you make a friend things can be different sometimes). You can likely special order them through one of the many surplus dealers.
