Any sources of how to fabricate windows?
Does anyone know of any books, etc. outlining techiques on how to
make wood windows from scratch? I would like to make wooden insulated
windows, single or double hung and casement out of redwood and clear coat them
to match the varnished redwood trim inside and outside the house

Hmmmmmm, surprised you haven't gotten responses yet. OK, 3 suggestions:
Here's one link I found by Googling:

And, finally, you might try posting over at Breaktime, where the Fine Homebuilding people hang out.
Good luck.

Having just made insulated wood windows for my whole house because of getting an amazing deal on the glass units at at auction, i can most heartily advise against it if your time is worth anything at all to you. If you are paying retail for the glass units, don't even think about saving money on the project. Also, you will not have a manufacturer's warranty on the finished product. I'm hard-core DIY, but i wouldn't do windows again. You should have a compelling reason to do this, and perhaps matching your other trim is just that good of a reason, but do a thorough cost analysis including all the hardware and weatherstripping costs before you start.
Edited to add: Clear-coated exterior wood trim will require a lot of maintenance, since clear coats generally fail before opaque paints. If you order redwood or select it at the lumberyard, you should stipulate it must be all heartwood--no white wood. The sapwood carries none of the rot-resistance of the red heartwood.
