Made some panel cabinet doors, the mrs. want a glazed, weathered/antique finish. I primed the doors, added a waterbased desired color and found a brown that would highlight the details of the doors (quirk and bead). Chain, nails, and blunt instruments at hand to pound the h_ _ _ out of the panel/rail/stiles to give it the effect she wants. When I add the glaze to the brown what is the best ratio for a gloss finish and does glaze give the finish a protection coat or should I spray it with a clear coat??? I want this to stand up to the rigors of kids!! The guy at the paint store stated the glaze would be fine, no need for clear coat. Wasnt convinced what he said….any help?

I guess it depends on what you have used. I normally use clear glazing liquid and add color to it. It is not a top coat. Water based will wash off and oil based will rub off.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Love those guys at the paint stores!
You will need some sort of clear coat over the glaze definitely.
