In the past, I’ve bought Home Depot gift cards with my Amex points (bought an Andersen Sliding Door with the points).
Unfortunately, HD does not sell the tools I’m looking for (like a good dust collection system).
Anybody got some clever ways of turning points into cash?
(FYI 50,000 points gets you $500 at HD)

Mark, I've heard that there's a "black market" for points. Don't know whether it's true, but supposedly people will pay you for things like airline tickets you purchase in their name with your points.
Another option might be to cash in points for gift cards, & then sell the cards on ebay.
I'm curious as to what you end up doing, 'cause I've got something like 350k amex points, & have wondered about converting them in other ways.
You should spend them :-)I've flown my family to FL (from MA) three times on AMex. That's 15 tix (over the course of 9 years). and I bought $500 worth of a $700 door with the HD card. Scary to think that I've spent $400,000+ or so on my amex (business travel).WIth 350K points you could go on a cruise (great fun) or a golf vacation or just plain ol' shop (start from the Amex site and see what Member ship rewards can do for you.)I'll check ebay and see what HD gift cards are going for...

I've BEEN spending them! ;) In the past 10 years, I think I've gotten 25-30 round trip tickets, plus some other misc. stuff. We use the card for business, so the points add up.Good to know there are other options, though. You sure are right about the conversion. Several grand would buy some nice machinery. But I'd probably buy it with the amex card, & accumulate even more points. Guess it'll never end. ;)

Greg,
The HD cards on Ebay (why I never thought to look there????) are selling at about a 10% discount. So a $500 card is going for about $450.WIth 350k points, you'd probably clear about $3100. That's a nice bandsaw and planer. Or a sawstop cabinet saw and most of a decent dust collection system.MarkPS I'm not sure I'm ready to go the ebay route just yet...
