Anyone out there used an Alto/Wap shop vacuum?? Found one for sale here on the island, awfully cheap.

I've never used one, but they're highly regarded among the custom auto crowd (the kind that have carpeted garages).
Assuming it's working, I don't think you can really go wrong for $50. Of course, a package of three replacement bags might cost more than that....

Steve, after he put the ad up, he found a package of 5 bags. The pleated filter looks quite clean. Got it all for $55!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I would snap it up quick. Provided it works:)

It does, I did! I asked him why he was selling it. Nauseating answer -- because he bought a Festool outfit.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Another great deal from Craigs list! Don't you love it! I picked up $600+ of swimming pool filter and chemicals for $200(2 months of use). Gee and there was no sales tax. Now the question is! How do we pay the State their just dues ? :-)Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Hey Bruce, I am sure that you told the State of Ohio on your State Tax Return that you did buy a bunch of stuff out of state on the internet and that you would be glad to pay the state sales tax on everything!
That is one of the dummest things taht I have ever seen of a tax return form! They really expect Ohio residents to pay sales tax on items purchased on the internet from out of state or from private sales? How dumb do they think we are? HA! HA!
Another Bruce in Ohio"A man's got to know his limitations." Dirty Harry Calahan
"How do we pay the State their just dues ? :-)" No sleep lost here, LOL. I'm sure they got their cut when he originally bought the vac.
I'm still filing quarterly sales tax reports since occasionally I do some work here in WA that requires my collecting sales tax. The last three have been "no activity" reports, but I stumbled across info on the new National Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement on the web site. Looks like the holes created by internet sales are beginning to be filled. Not sure the really small businesses considered the system "streamliined" though.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG I was wondering if you know if there is a way I can recover the Washington sales tax? When I take goods (tools from Grizzly) back to British Columbia I have to pay the BC tax (as well as the Federal tax) when I cross the border. Just isn't right to be charged twice for the same thing by State/Province.:(
QC, I went over to the Washington Department of Revenue's web site to see if I could find some info, but didn't get anywhere. I have experience with tax-free sales to qualifying people who live in the US. There was a list of states (California and Oregon among them) who's residents were not required to pay sales tax in Washington. When I had a qualifying customer, I had a very small form I filled out and attached to my sales records, recording their address and driver's license number, IIRC.
I'm thinking there might be a similar procedure for Canadian residents, but then again maybe not. I tried a search at the DOR site, but their search engine didn't seem to be working. I'll try again later tonight or tomorrow and see what happens. If still no joy, I can send them an email. They will answer me, 'cause I have a magic tax ID. ;-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I appreciate your trying. It's above and beyond what I expected. Thanks.
Glad to help, QC. OK, their search engine was working this morning, click here for the PDF form that's used for tax-exempt sales (the form is no longer a small one, LOL). Section 2 is your section, with c being your check box. Note the 3% ceiling.
Grizzly in Bellingham really should be offering this form to their Canadian customers (assuming they qualify), even though it's a bit of a hassle in terms of record keeping on their end. Sales to exempt customers have to be kept track of, the forms kept on file in case of an audit, and they are totalled each month and recorded as an exemption on the sales tax form we submit.
Good luck!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thanks FG but it looks like I'm going to have to pay up because we have a 7% sales tax. Do have a friend with a few chicken and turkey farms though, so that may be a possibility.
Ahhhh, well, I tried!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I don't know about the "Alto" part of it but I have a Wap. It is a good vacuum - retailed for some $500 but I think I got it from Trendlines for about $400. Wap probably consolidated with another company.
Anyway it looks like the poster has removed his post. Maybe it is sold.
"Anyway it looks like the poster has removed his post. Maybe it is sold." Yep, that would be me! It came with a pretty new pleated HEPA filter, and 5 of the bag filters, still in their sealed package, and a hose. No attachments, but I have plenty of those anyway. I made sure the switch worked, LOL. (That's a Unisaw joke!)
Yeah, somebody bought somebody. I found a web site with some info on the new ones, different color scheme. The make one called Floodsucker. too funny.
I think I did OK --the filter alone runs $55. This little find is helping make up for the Unisaw switch aggravation of the past week or so. ;-)

"Yep, that would be me." You lucky ...... Every once in a while, something works out right, eh? I note that you but your quotes in blue and parentheses. When I first saw this forum some years ago, I noticed that this was done and must have thought it was the official way to do it. Hope I didn't steal your patent rights.
"Hope I didn't steal your patent rights." Nah, it's public domain, LOL! Just makes it easier (quicker) to see what's what, IMHO.
You can use purple if you want.... ;-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
