I am searching for some thick pieces of thin ply plywood which was described as “German oak plywood”. My sample piece is about 1.75 inches thick with plies about 5/100 ” thick (1.25 mm). All the plies are oak. It is not just plywood with an oak veneer on the surface. Do you know of a reliable source for this wood? James Storm.

You sure it's oak on the plies? Reliable, when most folks ask for such a thing, means cheap. In 35 years of custom and factory woodworking I've never seen such a plywood. Veneers are done to reduce the cost and typically the core is poplar and low cost woods. Why do you need a complete oak plywood????
I am not absolutely sure that they are all oak, but the fairly knowledgeable man who sold me the device, which is made in Germany, said that the wooden parts were of plywood that was completely oak. The color is consistent with oak. I see no change in laminae in the pieces, suggesting that the pieces were originally made as one piece and not made up by gluing two or more sheets of plywood together. I contacted the original manufacturer of the device, but he said that the pieces were subcontracted out and that he had no information regarding the wood. If I ever get to Germany, I will look up specialty wood dealers, however I do not anticipate such a trip in the near future. My forays on the net have not been productive so far.
Device?
it is a handle for sporting equipment
why not make your own? Pretty straightforward lamination project.
Possible, but it means a lot of planeing to get enough plies for a 2" thick piece
To make my aftermarket parts visually compatible with the rest of the piece.
James. I think you would get better results if you would just tell what you want, and maybe someone will offer to make it for you if it is not available.
What is its intended use?
How many do you need?
It is _long _ wide, and _ thick, with X # of plys. Would you like for it to be marine grade?
Would you like for that to be red or white oak?
It would also be useful information if you would click your name, and fill in your location. Someone on the other side of the planet may have it, but then, someone just down the street may not bother to answer because you didn't consider that information as important as it is.
Don't know a source, but if you want to find a wood product in Europe, here's a resource:

A lot of the information is restricted to paying members (it's very expensive) but you may be able to get some leads. Try doing a search in Germany for specialty plywood manufacturers.
