I am looking for an adjustable base for my jointer (~550 lbs). Any decent, affordable models out there? Any to avoid?

I prefer the Delta style. Rockler sells a kit so you can make it fit to your exact specs.
Personally I'd shy away from the Delta kit that's just the hardware and you supply the wood. I don't think it will support the weight you have in mind unless you use square tubular steel instead of wood. I've got one under a router table and will probably end up replacing it at some point. Even using extremely hard wood, over time the bolt holes wear and loosen up and let the unit rack to the point where it doesn't roll very well.
I've got a HD ShopFox adjustable size base under an extremely heavy drill press that's pretty decent. It's not as smooth rolling as other MB's I have but it's not bad.
If you build it he will come.
