Hello all —
I just bought a used Jet OR 1412-F drill press. One thing I neglected to notice was it has one of the spindle/pointer type depth stops near the handle that’s not really a depth stop at all — eegads. Oops for me not noticing (it was a good deal) and a bummer all the same. But, what I’m wondering is — is there any way to add a REAL depth stop? Has anyone had any luck at this or even attempted it on this or any other drill press?? Any thoughts or ideas would be great. It would be so so so nice to have an ordinary dial type stop. This is my first post. Thanks.

You might try looking for the same or similar model and see if the parts are available.
I had the same problem with an old delta drill press and was able to locate the parts that should have been there and add the depth stop feature.

is probably a good place to start looking for parts and manuals
Thanks for the link. I'll start looking around it.Ben
I am not sure on that model, but most of the drill presses with that type of set up include a stop in the dial mechanism. If the dial has a small thumb screw on it that is used to set the depth.
