All, I have seen complaints (at the other Taunton forums) that, under the new software, it is hard to know to whom a post is addressed. I have a rather simple solution and it’s one that I have always used. It might be a bit old fashioned, but perhaps we could all address the person to whom we are responding by his or her name. To that end, I would be greatly pleased in everyone started using an actual name rather than a screen name. Of course, I know that’s not likely to happen. (I’ve always found it a bit weird to address a post to a “sandingdude”, a “shopcat”, or a “shavingslover9345”!)

FWIW, Matt, I think we have two separate issues going here. The threaded, indented-reply thing solves part of the issue, I think. But, like on the old software, some folks will probably click on "Reply" after the last post in the thread, rather than below the post to which they are really replying.
Personally, I, too, like to address people by their real names, but recognize that's not always possible. I'll sometimes shorten "SickDogWannaBeWolfHowlingAtTheMoonOnASaturdayNight" to just "Sick", though. ;-)
Matt,
The indented reply thing is a good idea but I get lost waaay down the scroll. Perhaps the addition of some colored guide lines will help.
And..... as long as the site allows it, I'll continue to keep an alias. Thank you very much.
