Hi all,
This may be a dumb question, but since I do not have experience with the machines in question I thought I would ask.
I was watching an episode of the New Yankee workshop the other day and saw what looked to be a unifence bar at rest in the holding brackets low on the left side of the cabinet. The fence bar Norm was using during the project was the beisemeyer.
Can the unifence and the Beis’ bars interchange on the same mounting rails? If I ever can afford a Delta cabinet saw that would surely be a plus since the Beis’ is renowned for accuracy but the unifence also has features that I like too.
Thanks for info,

unifence bar at rest..
I would think old NORM has to advertise some way without being obvious.
But then again I LOVE NORMS show...
No, they are not interchangeable unless you change the rail. The Unifence has an open channel in the front edge of the rail and the fence rail head is attached by clipping in this channel. I didn't see the show, but he may have used an auxiliary fence piece that was attached to the Unifence. One of the advantages of the Unifence is the many configurations and alternative accessories that can be added.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks Hammer for the clear explanation. I assumed that it might be the unifence bar. But It may have been something else like a 50" straitedge clamp. Any way I am always looking around in the back ground for interesting things that don't get mentioned, you know, products and equipment from other non sponsor companies.
For example Norm uses a lamello plate joiner about three times as much as he uses a PC plate joiner, and he only uses the Dewalt right angle cordless drill when he absolutely has too. I think its interesting and wonder how much he is allowed to use his personnal favorite tools versus a sponsor.
Any way I tape the shows so I usually do my "looking around" after I have watched and learned from his woodworking skill.
Thanks
Hello,For a closer look, check out the "tour" section on the New Yankee Workshop web site.http://www.newyankee.com/tour4.shtml
Thanks, have been there many times. I also like how the website lists the projects he has done.

If you are collecting a potential accessories list for your dream saw, do yourself a favor and check out the Excalibur fence system.
I had one for years on a saw I sold; the new saw came with a Bies clone, which is ok, but I really miss that Excalibur.
