All,
I’m putting my 621 in the router table, for the time being, and was wondering is there is a simple way to bypass the switch on the handle and direct wire into a switch on the table. Eventually I will replace the 621 with something more powerful…and maybe a lift system..but that is not now or for several months. thanks

If you know a bit about wiring for the home and shop, read on. If not, then DON'T DO THIS -- call a pro instead.
Build a switched outlet into your router table. Start with an extension cord (14 ga for a 15 amp outlet, 12 ga if the circuit is 20amp). Cut off the female end, put a switch in a workbox, and wire the cord to the switch. Put an outlet in a separate workbox, and wore from the switch to the outlet.
NOTE that the switch should not be something that is cheap and easy to find. It should be a pull-on/push-off switch, with a rather large button. That way, in a pinch, you can hit the button with a knee, elbow, or nose while your hands stay on the workpiece. Don't cut corners on this -- a normal light switch like the one on the wall just is not a good idea for safety reasons.
Mount the switchbox so that it is easy to get to -- be sure that you can hit it with your knee while routing a workpiece. Mount the outlet box so it is not easy to get to -- that way you won't trip on the wire. Plug the router into the outlet, and lock its trigger in the on position.
ANOTHER NOTE -- you still MUST unplug the router (or the new plug wire) before changing bits, or doing anything else with the business end of the tool. Failure to follow this absolute rule, WILL eventually result in the loss of fingers.
If my brief descriptions are not enough information for you, then you should not do this yourself -- as stated earlier, call a pro. Your fingers are way too important, as is the fire-safety of your shop and home.
YesMa'am,
Thanks for taking the time to respond...and yes, your words of caution are warrented. I've done a bit of wiring and feel comfortable with those aspects. My problem is after I get power to the router.
The 621 has the switch on the handle. I don't have the right terminology, but you have to push a button and squeeze the switch at the same time...and by keeping the buttom depressed, you can let go of the switch and it continues to run. I would rather not have to put my hands under the table everytime I want to start the router...guess where my nose is when I do this... So, I'm wondering how to wire up the router to bypass the switch on the handle and go directly to a switch like you describe on the router table. Hope this makes sense....Thanks
BG,
You can leave the switch continuously locked on, it won't unlock when you turn off the external switch.

JohnW,
Really? ..it's that simple? I'll try it ...and if it does work I'll throw some duct tape on the handle. I am skeptical however, when ever the power weakens the router is designed to turn off ..and you need to let go if the switch, let it come to a full stop and then squeeze again. I'll try and let you know... thanks
JohnW,
It works !! Thanks....I got a great router table now...
you're welcome.
