I’ve got a chance to purchase a “reconditioned” Delta X5 Unisaw (36-L51X-BC50) for around $1,450. The table has a couple of scratches on it, the motor cover has a stain and there are a few scratches on the cabinet paint. The fence and rails have never been unpacked. It comes with the full 5-year warranty. The Delta repair order states that it was returned by a dealer for “cosmetic” reasons. For the price I think I’m definitely going to pick it up.
My problem is that I’m just starting to redo my workshop by moving my lumber rack, storage cabinets etc. and adding new lighting and 220V power. I’ll be moving stuff into the driveway while this is going on, and I just won’t be able to deal with humping this beast around, even on a mobile base. I’m thinking about storing it for a few weeks in an unheated storeroom. It’s presently covered in Cosmoline or something just like it, but it would be nice to have some suggestions as to what else I need to do to keep it from getting covered in rust.
Regards,
Ron

Ron, Rub some wd40 or any oil on the iron surfaces. That should keep it from rusting.
Good luck with the saw,
Lou
