Hi,
I am building a frame and panel door for a storage cabinet. I have the following Freud matched router bit set for Rail and Stile.
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=19479
It is really made for 3/4″ stock for the frame, and 1/4″ stock or plywood for the center door. I have 1/2″ maple ply (bought and paid for) that I want to use for this project. What is the best approach?
1. Mill the frame parts, then cut out the back so that I can put the 1/2″ plywood in like glass into a picture frame?
2. Rout the edge of the plywood down to 1/4″ to fit into the slot?
The end result is a door that is 84″ by 22″. The outer frame would be maple, around 2″ wide.
Thanks,
John

Route the ply, on the back side (inside). Plan the width of the routed edge so that the 'raised' edge comes VERY close to the stiles and rails.
Politics is the antithesis of problem solving.
Thanks,

The frame material will be 3/4".
