When a couple of tape rolls arrived on my desk claiming to be better than duct tape, I took them home to find out. This X-treme Tape versions was 1-1/2-in.-wide by 25-ft.-long roll called Duct Hose Wrap, which is sold for $18 a roll. It is made of silicone and when stretched it adheres permanently itself but leaves no residue on the workpiece. I tried the Duct Hose Wrap where my dust-collection hose connected to a Y joint. The tape held fast despite the dust. Then I tried it on an engraving drill’s leaky air fitting. A dozen wraps sealed the 50-psi leak. I was sold. It is available at Woodcraft (www.woodcraft.com).
