Check Out Our New Blog: The Woodworking Life
Weekly postings by woodworkers from around the globe, covering projects, excursions, techniques, and much moreFine Woodworking has introduced a new blog, “The Woodworking Life.” It’s our first user-generated blog (that’s short for web log), and will feature entries from woodworkers throughout the world.
Other blogs on our site are written either by the editors of Fine Woodworking or by individual woodworkers who have been commissioned to blog for us. These include “The Editor’s Mailbox,” “Design.Click.Build,” the very popular blog about the SketchUp 3D design tool, and “Inside Andy’s Shop,” by Asheville, N.C., woodworker Andy Rae.
“The Woodworking Life” is different from the other blogs. We created it to recognize and provide a prominent outlet for the wide range of talent, interests, and creativity among the thousands of woodworkers who use the Knots forum on FineWoodworking.Com. The blog is a place where you can read about the unusual and offbeat, and where you can learn how other woodworkers succeeded with especially interesting or, well, knotty woodworking projects.
The first entry comes from “Lataxe,” a frequent contributor to Knots. He hails from Lancaster, England, and sent us a long but fascinating account about learning traditional woodworking techniques from “coppicers and bodgers” in nearby Cumbria.
You can see one of the photos from his blog at the top of the page. Next week, we plan to post another dispatch from Lataxe, this one about chair-making.
If you have an idea for an entry in “The Woodworking Life,” let us know. You can post a query in the “Knots Gallery” section of Knots. Or you can contact us at FineWoodworking.Com with an e-mail to [email protected].
