FWW Poll: How You Spent Your Summer
One in three respondents say they were busy in their shopsMore than one-third of the 445 respondents to the latest Knots poll said they completed at least five projects in their shop this summer. More than half said they made at least one project. Only 27 people admitted to spending the summer at the pool.
What were some of those summertime projects, in or out of the shop? Here are some answers, chosen from Knots postings:
“I spent most of my summer moving to a new house and building my shop.”
“I spent the my two weeks holiday doing a complete renovation on the main bathroom.”
“My wife gave me what turned out to be a 3 month one on one class with a luthier where I built my 1st classical guitar. It turned out to be awsome in looks and performance!”
“In the shop, I finished the heating system (piping arranged and hooked up for in the floor heating) and had the walls and ceiling foam insulated. Outside I got the driveway paved, smoothed fifty tons of top soil over the yard and planted to grass.”
“I spent my spare time this summer camping with my wife, fishing and playing in my boat.”
“I am from South Carolina. Golf here is limited to 10 months a year.”
“I made a media stand to contain the DVD player/Tivo/receiver/etc., and a flat screen TV.”
The poll is a regular feature of Knots, the user forum on FineWoodworking.Com. The results are nonscientific (but, we hope, entertaining), and reflect the opinions of Knots users, not all woodworkers. There’s a new poll posted on the FWW.Com homepage.
