The Wixey Digital gauge, a dedicated electronic caliper for mounting on benchtop thickness planers, permits accurately controlled material removal, in repeatable stages as small as 0.001 in. or 0.01 mm. The inches setting displays the reading in decimals and fractions. Installation wants some attention to the alignment, but on most planers it’s a straightforward, quick bolt-on. In use, I found that the greatest cumulative discrepancy between the Wixey’s measurements and my dial caliper’s readings was 0.007 in.

Double Sided Tape
A thin woven core makes XFasten tape strong yet not too thick (0.008 in.), and helps it hold powerfully without being difficult to peel off.
The adjuster runs through the beam from a small knob at the back end right to the cutting wheel, which moves in and out as you turn the knob. This arrangement works well but makes adjustments a two-handed operation, requiring a little more effort.
These clamps can handle glue-ups between 10 in. and 36 in. wide, and boards up to 3 in. thick. Sliding feet attach to the lower bars with magnets, letting you position them quickly for stability on any surface. The spring-loaded jaws adjust easily, dropping into notches along the bars.
