Shaker Boxes

I'm a big fan of the Shaker box; they are so simple but elegant and FUN! I like to personalize them by using some type of Maple top; my favorites are curly, quilted, and fiddle-back. I mount the top proud of the top band by about 2-3 mm just to give it a little more emphasis. I also line each box with aromatic Cedar; I love the smell and it really adds a nice touch. I typically use shellac as a finish for the box, and a shellac over poly-oil for the tops.
