maple, walnut, and ebony inlaid dovetail drawers
comments (2) December 9th, 2010 in Reader's Gallery
These drawers were fabricated for a custom entertainment center that I designed and constructed for my family. I utilized inlaid dovetail construction using maple and walnut as the contrasting woods. I also added an inlaid macassar ebony strip on the side of the drawer. The front of the drawer is made from 9 pieces of wood. A highly figured curly maple panel is set within a beveled maple frame that I dyed. A beading detail made from macassar ebony to match the side strip was then added to the perimeter of the frame. The drawers use solid maple sides.
