Former FWW Editor Opens Gallery in Tennessee

My friend and former colleague Matthew Teague has reached an exciting phase in his woodworking career: he's opening a gallery space that will feature pieces designed and built by him and fellow Tennessee woodworker Alan Daigre.
Matthew started as an assistant editor for Fine Woodworking in 1998, eventually rising to managing editor. He left the magazine in 2004 to pursue his dream of building furniture for a living (he also had a strong desire to return to the South to be closer to family). From then until now he's been designing and building pieces, writing for various woodworking publications, and teaching the craft.
Matthew and Alan became friends a couple years ago while collaborating on a farm table. Eventually they decided to pool their resources and form a partnership to create other designs. The pieces in the gallery are the result of that collaboration. "To start, we will have dining tables and chairs that Alan and I have collaborated on, as well as a few surprises from each of us," says Matthew. "We hope to always have a good selection of furniture designs that we have created individually and together."
Their gallery is in Leipers Fork, TN, part of a larger coop of artisans called Art in the Heart of Leipers Fork. They plan to have an official opening later this spring.
Congratulations Matthew.
