I made three coffee tables as Christmas gifts last year I sanded all the strips of timber glued them into panels when dry planed and sanded flush placed the three panels on top of each other held down with hot glue marked an s shape. Cut them on a band saw lightly sanded the saw marks, mix the shapes up place a thin strip of white timber between them and reglue. Sand them flush square them up the ends or cut them with a slight ark on the ends.

To push futher and shape cut outs to be reglued and thus mixing the table tops is imaginative and somewhat audacious. Add to this the ides of a pale wood strip to highlight the cut lines is the cherry on the icing. I saved the photos in my project folder under the title "Three Sisters"; not "coffee tables". Perhaps one day my tree daughters would get one each. Not this year, I am in bunk beds and dressers for the grand children.
