Mirka Abrasives, Inc. has announced a factory recall on it's CEROS 650 and 550 sanders, citing three cases of electrical shorting which resulted in smoke and sparks being emitted from the unit. Mirka believes this short to be caused by a fault in a circuit board in the tool's handle.

All 5 or 6 in. CEROS sander, purchased after November 1, 2013, and within the following serial number ranges, are under recall and are eligible to be replaced:

347228672001  to  347228672048

349428672001  to  349428672048
