This bench was made from Hard Maple and is very heavy upon it's completion.  I always wanted a heavy, quality made bench for my shop and waited until I could afford the cost of better materials and a good design that fit my needs.  I am very happy with the result and now am almost afraid to use it for fear of "messing up the top".  But then again, that's like buying a Mercedes and not driving it.  You can read the entire story about the build at:  http://www.oldaveswoodshop.com/Workbench.php
