bobafrench bobafrench writes: Thank you Donmabr1. I have the wood cut for me when I find just the right kind. Spalted Maple has to be cut at just the right time (before it gets too punky)and I lucked out with this beautiful piece. I use a commercial finish that I buy through Woodcraft. It is a 2 part finish by General Finishes; 1 coat of Seal-A-Cell and 2 coats of Arm-R-Seal Satin finish.

I'd be interested in knowing where the spalted material thin enough for the bands came from. And, what the finish is. Overall, the piece is a very good example of a modern interpretation of a period design. My compliments.
