Coffee Table From Scraps

What a few scraps can do!

Here was a little project I did from a bag of scraps of triangles and pieces after making a big order of tables for a winery here in Australia. I needed a new coffee table for home. So I got all the peices being Jarrah and Blackbutt 2 Australian timbers and started dominoing them together and the pieces just started to come together. It sure was an excercise in the domino's ( Festool), and with a few coats of some Treatex hardwaxes in a matt finish to keep the natural look it has come up a treat. I had to make it so my wife could fit her knitting box under it for when she knits whilst watching TV, and me ... I have somewhere to put my feet up. Everyone is amazed that the result is from scraps, but the scraps where 32mm thick and way too nice to use in a fire, there has been no new timber added just the scraps I had and imagination. Ohhh and it weighs about 40 kgs so guess who has to move it when she vacuums.

No problems at all it is in perfect condition as it is been doweled together with Domino's fro Festool there is no movement in the timbers. Th light colour blackbutt is from a recycled source where it used to be beams in a factory and the red colour jarrah has been kiln dried and is a furniture grade.

So far all good. I only use Triton III glue and always have had good results.
