You'll need to empty your piggy bank, clean out between your sofa cushions, and dive into your kids' college fund to buy this mega-set of router bits.
Looking for the perfect gift for the woodworker on your holiday list? How about a lifetime’s worth of router bits?
Carbide Processors, Inc., a tool distributor and maker, is now offering a mega set of bits–3,530 of them!–from Southeast Tools, the company that took Best Value in Fine Woodworking’s most recent router bit test (FWW #191).
Regularly, the set would run you $254,044, but Carbide is offering a large discount that brings the total down to $179,999.
“Are you $%^&ing kidding me?”
It’s no joke. Almost $200K for router bits. It breaks down to roughly $51 per bit, and the set does come with 2,000 lineal feet of steel shelving to hold the collection. Yes, but does it come with a barn to hold that shelving?
By the way, Carbide Processors is happy to put together a smaller, custom set for those who can’t take on the second mortgage for the Donald Trump set.
You can save lots of money on your router bits if you buy in bulk.

I was thinking about buying a complete set for each of my three best friends, but I haven't heard from them in so long . . . ;-)
Doesn't it figure, I log in on Dec. 1, and find out about a promotion that ended on November 30... Story of my life, day late and a dollar short...
as for the big set, one could always start a tool museum...
I told my wife wan't two sets. Next year I will ask for a router.
That's f%$&ing crazy.
We received an overwhelming response from everyone and we thank you all for participating in our promotion! We received between 200 and 300 emails and can't respond to everyone so those that sent us their shipping information will receive one. If you have any further inquiries regarding this promotion or Carbide Processors, please send all inquiries to email@example.com.
I got one of these sets for Christmas two years ago and almost always have the bit I need. Also, this might just be a rumor, but I think if you buy 10 or more sets, they'll throw in gift-wrapping for free.
If I could just bring myself to share these router bits in the shop with my wife and her projects, I could leverage the purchase.
Now where's my checkbook???
My wife has it.....
Shoot, I don't use all the tools I already have. That said, I would take the set in a flash, because I LOVE collecting tools. I would hang them up in the living room if my husband weren't so firmly sane.
Thank you everyone for your interest in our free router bit! We unfortunately have to close the promotion a few hours earlier than planned and as of now, it is closed. We had budgeted for 100 bits and we have exceeded that with this promotion. Don't worry, those of you who have already emailed us inquiring about your free bit, will get one. Thank you all again!
Santa's elves can make a lot of toys with these bits...
Hey Santa!! Are you listening?!?!?!?
Just a reminder that the current free Southeast Tool router bit promotion will end on the 30th of November.
Thanks for the offer, Tom, but I can't accept gifts from mfgs.
Thanks Tom! Be sure to send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive your free Southeast Tool router bit! Have a great holiday!
No reason to apologize. I thought the sale was interesting. Thanks for the clarifications.
Our apologies that the press release wasn’t 100% clear.
To apologize we are giving away a free Southeast tool router bit to everyone who wants one. Email email@example.com. No obligation to get a 1/4”, 2 flute carbide tipped router bit free.
Our press release mistakenly gives the impression that Southeast router bits average $51 each. Southeast tools are generally a much better value than other, high quality bits. And Southeast Tools were rated excellent for both quality and value by Fine Woodworking magazine.
Besides router bits the sale also includes diamond tooling, collets, Precision Collet Sets, Collet Tool Holders, many large drill bits and drill bit sets, torque wrenches, tightening stands, drill sets, hundreds of spiral router bits and many other high dollar items.

In this video Michael starts work on the second box, a carved and painted Saddle lid box.
Michael begins carving the saddle lid box with his ripple pattern along the top. Then turns to his 5/30 gouge to texture the sides of the box. This isn't work…
