Would you buy a recon’d router on ebay
This guy has Reconditioned Freud routers on ebay for about $90 less than new. Is it worth it? Does anyone have experience with reconditioned Freud routers?

I don't know about Freud reconditioned tools. I actually don't have any Freud tools.
I have bought reconditioned tools before but all were thru amazon and were being sold as reconditioned from the manufacturer with a same as new warranty.
I probably wouldn't buy reconditioned off of an individual.
I had good experiences with the two routers and cicular saw that I bought.

Do you have a Woodcraft store near you? Last week they had the Freud on sale for $129, new.

James - Woodcraft had the older FT2200 on sale, not the FT3000 with the above table features. Quickstep - I have no issues buying reconditioned tools, but I'd hesitate just a bit with that particular vendor. His rating is 98.7% positive, which seem ok, but with 32,000 transactions, that leaves a large number of disgruntled folks. Besides, you also have to pay shipping, so the savings gets eroded a bit. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy from them, but I'd proceed with caution. The FT3000 is fairly new out so it hasn't had much chance to see the amazing sale prices that pop up now and then. If you catch a crazy Amazon sale and free shipping, you might get a great price on a brand new one from a regular dealer.
Knotscott......... Thought it was too cheap! That's why?

I have to agree with Webby...steer clear of the reconditioned stuff on ebay unless you can get it dirt cheap and are not worried about throwing it away if it ain't what it's cracked up to be.
Just my 2 senses.

It's an ebay store. I don't kow if that makes it safer or not.
As long as they have good feedback it's safe. A lot of manufacturers are selling their reconditioned tools through dealers who throw them on Ebay. Manufacturers get customer returns from Home Depot and Lowes and don't know what to do with them. They can't sell them as new so they look them over and sell them as reconditioned units. In some cases, buying a reconditioned tool is SAFER than buying a new tool because it went through quality control while a brand new tool just came off the assembly line in China without being checked out. Most reconditioned tools come with the full manufacturers warranty so you're safe there too.

Ebay reconditioned {outside mfg) can be risky I was taken a couple of times. Here is a website which sells reconditioned by factory. I have bought a bunch from them in the past few months .. shipping is free. http://www.reconditioned sales.com. Their prices are about 1/3 to 1/2 of Lowes or Home Depot.
RAF Supply is an authorized Freud dealer with a retail location in NY and they have purchased many tools, both new and reconditioned, from us.
