Matt,
I’m trying to obtain some statistics & sources of information for a woodworking related project I’m working on as follows:
– How many amateur & professional woodworkers are there in the United States as well as the world (a breakdown of countries would be most helpful).
– Trying to identify any general woodworker demographic information that is available (age, income range, etc.).
Any guidance or direction on this would be most appreciated.
Best regards.

Sorry I can't be of much help on this. If we knew the answers to these questions, our marketing department would be ecstatic. Here's a few ideas that might spur more research.
According to this article, Wood magazine (the largest circ. woodworking pub) had a circulation of 550,000 readers in 2000. They probably account for about half of all woodworkers who buy magazines. Who knows how many woodworkers don't buy magazines.
Take a look at our media kit for information on the demographics of our readers.
For information on professional woodworkers, you can check out the Furniture Society, which has a membership made up of high-end furniture makers, and the Society of American Period Furniture Makers.
