I’m graduating next year from college and possibly looking at getting additional schooling in furnituremaking/woodcraft of some sort. I’ll probably be living in either Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, depending on where my future-wife will be going for her masters. I was wondering if there are any good options in either of these 2 areas. I have been working at a place that supplies pipe organ parts for organbuilders, doing millwork, woodpipe building, keyboard work, but I am more interested in furniture / cabinetry, boxes, etc. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

I'll second http://www.philadelphiafurnitureworkshop.com.Alan & Mario have a great thing going there.
I'm in Pittsburgh, and I know of no school for woodworking anywhere around here. You might try contacting Carnegie Mellon University, though. They have a pretty good art dept. and they may be able to hook you up with something.

There was a school in Pgh, Connelly, something like that, up on the bluff by the Civic Arena. Is that still around? I knew a guy who went there for cabinet making.
Look into the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I took their continuing ed classes and they were great. The full time students were doing some amazing stuff.
Not in Phila or Pitt but Thadeus Steven Institute of Technology in Lancaster has wonderful programs. One of the instructors, Steve Latta, write article periodically for FWW. Check them out - and they are a State of PA school for PA residents only.
