Hi – Does anyone know anything about Woodmaster Bandsaws? In particular a Model 500 – I have a chance to pick up a used one but would like to know a little more about them.
I’ve done some research – this saw was made by Wood-Mizer in Indiana for Woodmaster. they were made in 1985, ’86 and ’87. The parts department guy at Wood-Mizer gave me this info and thought they were a good quality saw. He also said that since they haven’t been made for so long that they may or may not have any parts I might need there. The saw I’m looking at seems to be in very good condition. It starts and sounds like it’s running smooth but I have very little experience with bandsaws so I’m looking for some advice.
Thanks, -Mark

My dad has had a Woodmaster 500 for over 30 years. He used it in his country craft business for many years. I have it now and am looking forward to many years of use for myself. The saw uses a 105 inch blade that you will have to probably have to order on line. There are many places to do that. Good luck!

Woodmaster bandsaw buy
Hi -- I just bought a Woodmaster model 500 at a garage sale. I found a Woodmaster web site, and the lady who answered checked with someone, and said yes they were the manufactuers of this unit. Upon asking for a manual, she asked me to call back and talk to a long time employee named Val, at: 800-821-6651, between 8:30 AM - 12 noon, and he only works 3 days a week. That is EST.
1985goldwing, since your Dad, and now you have had this unit apparently since it was new, is it possible that you have the manual that I might buy a copy of from you? I suppose I can figure out how to use it, but would greatly appreciate all I can learn. The buy came with a large stack of round bands that he said fit it, but geech, they are only about the diameter of a vollyball! Was he mistakened?
Thanks!

Volleyball-sized bandsaw blades
Um, Oletimer, is there a chance that you have a 105-inch bandsaw blade that has simply been folded up? You can fold a bandsaw blade into an odd number (3, 5, etc.) of connected loops. If you are not familiar with the technique of folding one up, then you can be surprised when it unfolds. So grab your pile with gloves and toss it out there on your wood floor to see if it springs out into a 105-inch single loop.
I have owned a model 500 for 15 years. I recently had a problem with the idler wheels rubber falling apart. I reached a outlet for the pull wheels Sperry Rubber 1-800-541-9277. The Sperry part Number is A-1200-C. if this is helpfull. I also have a original Assembly and Alignment manual. The Blade length for these machines is 108"-110". Mine was manufactured in 1982 and still is a very solid machine.
Looking for manual
I'm also looking for a manual. Hopefully your still out there
Woodmaster 500
Yes, thanks to the reply about the blades. They ARE folded. I realized that after posting. And, I may have found the contact for MDHayden online, who owes that model. I sure would like to get a copy of the manual from someone. Or, at least any info on any possible lubrication needs, and such.
Woodmaster 500 band saw
I came across this e-mail when I was looking for a replacement thrust bearing for my Woodmaster bandsaw. Unfortunately it looks like I,m going to have to find another source for a part since it appears from the e-mail chain that the machine is no longer being manufactured. Anyway, I have the manual and can print a copy for you if you still need one. I didn't see anything in it regarding lubrication. I put a drop of oil every once in awhile in the usual places. I order bandsaw blades from Timber Wolf and get 109 1/2" blades.
Woodmaster model 500 bandsaw manual
Hi!
I acquired a Woodmaster model 500 bandsaw, and have gotten an assembly manual of 22 pages, but it deals mainly with assembly. If you have an operating manual, I would certainly pay you for your time, and trouble to get it to me! I broke a blade, and need to install another. It came with a bunch of blades.
Many thanks!
