Hi I’m making a woodframe in whitch I will put ceramic to make a plate to put hot stuf on it. My problem is that I whant to be sure that nothing is gonna crack when the wood dry or work. My first idea is to make a cillicon joint between the wood and the ceramic, anybody have any thought.
PS: Of corse I’m not gluying the support of the ceramic to the frame.

Assuming you will grout the joints,if you are using a comonly available grout, there is a latex caulk, either sanded or unsanded that will match the color. Ask for it when you get the grout.

But I have a second problem that I did't mention in the first message. It as to be able to endle hi temperature. The plate is to be use like a plateau for hot dish. And the other thing is , am'I going trought unecessary step to prevent my frame to split.
I've made a couple of projects where wood framed a ceramic tile. Since wood moves very little in the direction of the grain, the designs aligned the grain with the tile, like a picture frame. No cracking, so I don't think you will have a problem if you make sure the grain direction aligns.
