OK, so I work at farn and have grazing rights. We’re producing all kinds of tasty salad fixings, lettuce, radish, scallions, green garlic, arugula, muustard greens, carrots, ete, and it;s like being marooned in a liveboat with no water to drink.
I cant chew any of this stuff because I only have the falsie uppers I got in the army back in the 60s. I’ve made a lot o strange apparati from wood so why not falsie lower dentures? I’m a farmer so who cares what hey look like. I was thinking of rock maple teeth glued onto cork that has been carefully carved to fit my toothless lower gums. Can’t wait till Obama gets around to a national dental plane for seniors and can’t afford real false bottoms because (conundrum) I am a farmer. Course farmin is real hard work, and the healthier I eat, the better off I’ll be.
Any idears on non toxic wood, sharpness, etc, etc. Support your local organic small farmers for your own good.
the winning idea will recieve a big bundle of really sweet baby white turnips.
Thanks,

Bubinga wood be perfect ,especially if you like the burgandy look to your teeth. Bubinga is plenty hard, works well with power tools.I do not know of toxcity in this wood. You are gonna chew with it,not eat it. Go ahead and give it a try. No need to put a finish on it, alcohol saturation every so often will keep odors at bay. No need to remove teeth when saturating in alcohol.
Did I win the turnips? I've only eaten the purple top turnips, mmm good.

Ash is the wood of choice for food contact, as it imparts no noticeable flavor or odor.
As I understand it, the fit of a denture has to be very precise to avoid intense pain...

Jed Clampet made his own dentures, so I can't be so hard.
Shoe, Surely you are not remembering that right. Granny did all of the family health and medical treatin. Heck, She was probably around to make them for George Washington. Probably would have lined them with slippery elm bark, which was one of here favorite drug sources. Veggie, needs to go ahead and plant a Hercules Club tree. Chewing the twig bark will numb any aches or pain in the mouth.
Sir:
I am a dentist and mark my word this will not work out well for you. There are so many things you need to know, your bite, size of the teeth, how to make it fit your ridge if you still have one and if you don't then things get even more difficult. You live west of Boston so check to see what dental schools are in Boston. Call them and see what they might do for you.
Trying to make your own denture out of wood will waste the time you could be doing something more useful and it will cause you untold grief.
Try to find a dental school or find a dentist who might barter for your vegetables.

By Jim's (James R.) response, maybe this is what you need:

Our first President had a set of teeth made from a combination of wood, bone and metal. I think it was said that they always bothered him to the point of not wearing them often, I don't know, off hand, of any pictures of him smiling. Try calling 800-dentures for the location nearest you. Cheapest plates I know of.
Did you know that at one time Sears had a mail in impression kit? At least I think it was Sears. I do remember some of the old poops in my family talking about their "mail-order" teeth.
Granpop had them, " Roebuckers" he called them. He only wore them on special occasions. He never heard of bubinga, others wise he woulda made his own.
