Hello all,
I remember seeing an article long ago on making a business card case
from one piece of wood and making it look seamless (or jointless). I can’t
remember if the article was in Fine Woodworking magazine or the
“Techniques” series of books. Any advice? Thanks.

RNC,
I don't know if recall whether FWW had an article on that or not, but there is a project featured in the September 2004 Wood magazine issue. If I remember, it would hold 5-10 cards and was thin enough to slip in a pocket, maybe 1/2" thick when finished. Follow the link to order the issue/plans.

Ooops, link doesn't work. What search string did you use?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Sorry. Try this. It includes a picture. http://woodstore.woodmall.com/bucaca.html
I've considered making these to give to my bigger clients as an appreciation gift. If that link didn't work, go to woodmagazine.com. On the left side of the home page is an online index, click that and then put into the keywords search, "business card case". The picture that they show is the case sitting on a desk, but the case will also fold up to be slipped into a pocket or purse.
Enjoy!

I made several of these for gifts. I used Krazy type glue. I can't type cynoacralate (sp). The stuff I got from a hobby store. It was thick viscosity and worked like a charm. Every time I set the bottle down, I set it down hard so the glue would drop from the dispensing tube tip and not clog it up.
That worked, thanks Eric. When I tried the search function (3 different search strings) I got zero results each time.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
No problem. If you are interested in seeing more of the article before you buy it, you might try your local library (that's where I saw the article). I think that people often forget their libraries when they are looking for resources. I use mine constantly. I rarely buy a new book without first checking it out from the library. If mine doesn't have it, then I do an inter-library loan.
It has been a while since I read that article, but it seems in my recollection of it that something in the process I didn't care for. I think that it was something the writer suggested doing on the table saw, that I would have done via router table or some other way. Just a heads up.

Thanks, Eric. I probably have it on my shelf somewhere, just haven't taken the time to look.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Not sure (I never am!)
The Incra Jig.. Projects and Techniques book by Perry McDaniel has one.
