Wood Art Shows and Exposure
Hey everybody how do I find wood art shows (the real deal not the ones where they are selling bird houses by the hundreds) where you can enter functional wood art furniture and win ribbons, prize money, and get some good exposure?? Also, I know everyone has there secrets but how do you get into the circle that you need to be in to survive in this business?

While you're looking around for shows, you might also consider this custom-made furniture site. I know a couple of people who get more work than they can handle through the site.
Are you talking about sites like woodartistsgalley.com??
Maybe (I've not been to the site you mention). I put a link in my post to "Custom Made" web site. Click on link in this sentence: "...you might also consider this custom-made furniture site. "
Looking at the Wood Artists Gallery, it is a much more sophisticated site, but I suspect it's quite expensive for the craftsman -- e.g., you would probably pay a big fee on any commission you got through them. That may be OK, depending on what price point you are at.
I just threw out the Custom Made link as a low-cost way of getting some kind of presence on the internet. As I mentioned before, I've heard a couple of people say they've gotten a healthy level of work through the site.
As indicated on their sign-up page, cost is $35/year plus a couple of one-time charges ($10 per specialty category and $10-$15 per gallery page. So you can get started with them for, say, $75 with listings in 3 specialty categories.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thank you all for your help i have looked at all the websites and they are all perfect!
Thanks Again.
FG,
I have gotten a lot of work from people that contacted me from that website.
