I have been looking at the digital read out for the table saw fence that Wixey sells and wondering if anyone has used it or if anyone has any comments on it.
I have a Delta with a Biesmeyer fence if it matters.

Doug,
I've had a Wixie for about 5 months..when it works it's great but I have to keep recalibrating it. Sometimes in the middle of a job it will change measurement and I have to recalibrate it again. I've changed batteries so that's not it. I'm probably doing something wrong and need to reread the manual if and when I can locate it.
The other problem is that it sits below the rail that the fence is attached to and when I use the tilt feature of the saw (Sawstop) to 45 degrees then the wheel that raises and lowers the blade hits the Wixie rail. I would like it alot more if these issues weren't present. BTW, mine came with the Wixie device that measures tilt(angles)..I really like that for precisely measuring the angle of my saw blade, etc.
Neil
Yeah, I have the tilt version (bought seperate) and it works well. That is why i was thinking of the one for the table saw fence.
In some respects I am just missing my old Vega Pro fence. It had a micro adjustment and is slid better on its rails. So I keep looking at options to make may happier with my BMeyer fence.
Doug
Neil, click here for a solution to the tilting problem with the Wixey equipped SawStop. Also, seems like you'd get good support from the Wixey manufacturer if you gave them a call about the other problem you're having.

forestgirl,
that link took me to something about compressors...
thanks for the advice
Neil
Sorry, Neil, one of the digits dropped off the shortcut. I've fixed it above, and you can also click here. I've tested it.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
forestgirl,
thanks for the link and the helpful suggestions..when I finsih my current projects, I'll give it ago but it certainly sounds like a non mechanical person could easily remedy the problem
Neil
I put this one on PM2000 this last December.

I love it. I like how it works compared to the wixey.
I downloaded and read both owners manuals before I purchased. I use it with my forest and dado setup. very easy to get dead on.
The install did not go as smooth as I would have hoped but Accurate Technology was very helpful and sent me different parts after we discovered Powermatic had changed the config on their fence since they printed the manual.
I could not believe how helpful they were. Very happy customer.
Looks like this version may be nicer but is it still simple to pull the fence off? It looks like part of this system sticks under the fence and that could be a pain (or not) to take off the fence.

2 parts<!----><!----><!---->
a scale mounted under the rail.<!----><!---->
a readout mounted on the fence lever.<!----><!---->
the 2 parts are not connected. The radio head does slide on the scale so you would have to slide if off the end of the scale. You do this during the install.<!----><!---->
http://www.digi-kit.com/downloads/Accufence.pdf<!----><!---->
It has been working perfectly for me since I got it installed. Like I said the install was a little frustrating but they were great in getting it solved.<!----><!---->
I guess I have not wanted to remove it so maybe I’m missing something but it would be easy to disassemble. I think you would have to slide the radio head off the scale. I would be lost if I had to take it off the saw. I can’t believe I ever used a tape to set the fence.<!----><!---->
One thing you notice when going digital is how slight an adjustment can vastly change the dimensions.<!----><!---->
<!----> <!---->
So you can take the fence off and the part that slide back and forth under the rail stays on? I looked at the site and I still do not get it (I may need to look at the whole manual) But like I said the only thing I am worried about is that I can still take the fence off and stick it out of the way when I am not using it (say when cross cutting) if I can slide the rest of the system off to the right side that will do.
Doug
Yes you got it.<!----><!----><!---->
I guess it's not an issue for me. 50" rip on my saw. I can see if you’re cutting ply and you have to remove your fence it would be a concern.<!----><!---->
I'll try it tonight and tell you how bad it was to remove the fence.<!----><!---->
<!----> <!---->
<!----> <!---->
<!----> <!---->
Yeah that would be a big issue for me even with the 50" (the same as I have) not being able to just pick the thing up and move it to its storage location (under the table) would IMHO be a pain in the but. On the other hand if you never do that then it would not matter to you. It is just the way that I work. So right now it looks like this would be a better/nicer unit in general depending on how hard it is to remove. That may push it back to Wixie.
Doug
I gave it a go last night... sorry about the delay.<!----><!----><!---->
I guess I would say it was easy but I'm not sure I would want to do it a lot. there are little pickup's inside the radio head that can be damaged if you got sloppy removing the fence.<!----><!---->
Not sure I guess it might not be the best if you want to remove it all the time. occasionally not a big deal all the time and I think you would eventually damage the head.<!----><!---->
<!----><!---->
Yeah that would not be good I think.
Maybe I will go with the wixie of I go this route at all.
Doug
I put one on my DeWalt 746 and love it. I use the regular scale most of the time but for doing dados it if great to be able to zero any time you want and move over a few .ooo's to tune the cut in. Or just zero the fence and move over for a desired rip. But it is a luxury type thing (MP3 in an auto) you can do without it, but it's another tool toy.
